El Juncal beach

El Juncal

Juncal beach is near the municipality of Gáldar, at the mouth of the Juncal ravine. It is a beach with difficult access and that usually has people on weekends, the rest of the days it is a very quiet and beautiful beach.

El Juncal is a small natural bay that protects the beach from the strong waves in the area, although if the waves are big there may be a bit of swell on the shore, you have to be careful. When this happens, it is better to enter and exit through the western part of the beach.

Juncal beach is made up of large blocks of rocks, you will have to look for a good rock and get comfortable as there is no sand.

Juncal beach usually has clean and crystal clear waters that will invite you to swim, we recommend you take some diving goggles with you as it is a good spot for snorkeling.

How to get to Juncal beach in Agaete?

To get to Juncal beach from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria we must drive along the GC2 road in the direction of Agaete. Before reaching Agaete there is an exit called El Cardonal, we must take it and drive in the direction of the greenhouses, at the end of these we will find a large esplanade located above the Juncal beach.

Access by car to the beach is only possible if you are an advanced SUV driver, for the rest of the people is better to park the car at the top of the ravine and walk 20 minutes.

Even so, it is highly recommended to take a walk from Agaete to El Juncal leaving the Turmán area.

Excellent beach. Worth a walk along the coast from Agaete. Large waves so be careful how you access the water. Check tide times

An amazing beach(not sandy!). It took a bit of finding. Unless you have a 4x4 vehicle DO NOT attempt to drive down the final part of the dirt track!! Instead, look for some large rubbish bins on your left just before the track begins to descend and park there. It's 15 minutes to walk down to the beach. Look for the remains of a very ancient settlement just before you reach the beach. Enjoy 😉 .

The beach is good to view sunsets, but it’s not easy to get there. We left our car near the green houses and then walked to the beach for about 20 minutes down the hill. If you have four-wheel drive it’s possible to drive right there but otherwise I’d not recommend that. The beach itself is secluded and almost no one is there, but it’s hard to get into water because of the big rocks
